Day 44

Today was a lovely peaceful walk. Along comfortable paths and through woodlands and small villages.

The crowds definitely having spread out. I walked a little while with a couple from the UK, they have family in Sydney and have traveled to Australia a lot. We had a great chat.

The eucalyptus forest I have heard about start to appear, these are an introduced species here, bought in from Australia in the mid 1800s and now only used for pulping for paper. It’s nice to see a reminder of home. Amazingly I am also seeing more Bottlebrush’s too which add to an Australian feel.

I am staying in a modern Alburgue tonight and have this lovely pod to sleep in which is very cozy! The shower was also nice and warm so a clean and happy pilgrim this afternoon.

I had a walk around the town and spotted this Pasta restaurant. Turned out to be a real find. It’s tiny only 6 tables an English/Irish couple own it, he is in the kitchen while she looks after us at our tables. I end up sitting with a young pilgrim from South Africa who grew up in Australia we had a lovely time chatting and eating an amazing spinach and ricotta ravioli in creamy tomato sauce. I then had to have a Tiramisu to finish a wonderful Italian meal in Spain. A very multicultural day!

Distance walked 12km

Total Distance walked 708km

Elevation 720m

Gum trees? No thanks, we’ve already got too many like you & Ron. We recently planted 3 Liquid Amber’s down the driveway & my little nursery of Jap Maple seedlings from your place are growing nicely & providing some lovely autumn colours 😍 It seems so picturesque everywhere you go, lovely to have such scenery around you & yummy food.. & a hot shower too. Not too sure about your little sleep pod though 🤔 Keep safe Sharise xx🥰

Have definitely lost count, so many! I am still in contact with the ladies I met on day one. They have all finished now. Amazing! My last day of walking will be when I walk into Santiago. There I will collect my Compostela and find a foot masseuse 😂
