20km walked.

I watched the sunrise over the Southern Ocean, then we drove to the start of today’s walk.

We had only just begun walking when the first of the Koalas appeared. I was so excited to see them in their natural habitat. We saw about 9 during the walk today.

We also saw Swamp Wallabies, Blue Tongue Lizzards, Black Cockatoos and a couple too many snakes!

The walk was through bush and at time on forestry roads. It got hot after lunch at our picnic stop for lunch.

The last 6km were a challenge – the heat and being constantly on snake watch!

But finally the van appeared on a dirt road in what felt like the middle of nowhere.

We were whisked away to a country pub our home for the night. Everyone’s spirits high with having walked with watchful eyes of the koalas today.
