Today I was a new woman! No hip pain and feet felt better – blistered but better.
At our bush retreat I was assigned βGusβ a small toy Koala – Gus as in Saint Augustine who among other things is the Patron Saint of Brewers. I am to look after him for the day and hand him over tomorrow.
The walk today is all along country roads. There are cows, lots more bulls, sheep and three donkeys- we see swans preening in a distant dam and have to go into protection mode when a Magpie starts circling.
The roads are flat and there is a lovely cool breeze – the sun is shining.
We stop for lunch by the side of the road our support crew there with food and hot drinks.
Just as we arrive in town we stop for a rest as we are going straight to a local rail museum in what was the old station. There is the offer of a ride on a little rail loco to the museum – YAY!
At the museum we are given a talk on the history – no longer an operational rail line itβs nice to see the Station being put to use as a museum.
We walk the short distance to the Kalangadoo Hilton where we are staying the night. This is a step back in time.
A shower and change I join some of my fellow walkers one of whom is a Bathurst 1000 fan in the bar. We catch the last stage of the race on a big TV with the locals there is laughter and beer and a cheer when the chequered flag falls.
There are more drinks in the Beer Garden then dinner in the pub bistro.
Tomorrow will be our last day of walking – this makes me happy but also sad.
Gus has survived the day with me – I am just pleased I didnβt loose him – he even has his own Facebook page!
Back in our room – there are four of us in single beds – no bunks tonight there is much hilarity about everything and nothing.
Itβs been a wonderful day!
